Endometriosis of the Perianal Region

Abstract

|
It is difficult to distinguish endometriosis of the perianal region from an abscess and a fistula-in-ano.
When the sphincter muscle is invaded, complete removal of the lesion is difficult, and the recurrence rate is high. Accordingly, hormonal therapy may be of significant help in treatment.
This report discusses two cases of endometriosis of the perianal region which were experienced by the authors at Song-Do Anorectal hospital and presents a review of the literature on this subject.
